Cartel

A group of independent market participants who collude to improve their profits by limiting competition through price-fixing, limiting supply, or other means.

Historical examples include the medieval European guilds. The most famous modern example is OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries), formed in 1960.
