Accounting

The systematic recording, classifying, summarizing, and interpreting of financial transactions.

The earliest evidence dates back over 7,000 years to Mesopotamian civilizations. The formal basis for modern accounting, known as double-entry bookkeeping, was first codified by Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli in 1494.
